GIMA In Its Second Year

The Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) kicked off the voting process today to adjudge the winners of the Chevrolet GIMA Awards 2011 to be held on the 22nd of September at the Kingdom of Dreams. In its second year, GIMA continues to honour artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in Indian music.

GIMA is based on a peer-voting system wherein the first ever established Academy of over 280 members ranging from Industry stalwarts, music directors, producers, technicians, composers and leaders in the music business, come together to cast votes for nominees across the Chevrolet GIMA Awards categories deciding the final winners.

GIMA’s Goodwill Ambassador, Asha Bhosle officially opened voting by casting the first symbolic vote. Speaking on her role as Goodwill Ambassador, the nightingale, Asha Bhosle said, “GIMA provides a unified platform for musicians across the country, giving equal prominence to film and non-film music making for a holistic Awards presentation. I am pleased to align with the Global Indian Music Academy as the Goodwill Ambassador.”

Key members of the GIMA Advisory Board, Jury and Academy also attended the conference to show their support including, Pyarelalji, Dr. L Subramaniam, Alka Yagnik, Shankar Mahadevan, Jagjit Singh, Bhushan Kumar, Pankaj Udhas and Vijay Lazarus, among several others. The 2nd edition of the Chevrolet GIMA Awards will be presented at an exclusive ceremony on the 22nd of September, 2011 at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon, India’s no.1 entertainment destination and home to the first ever Bollywood musical, ‘Zangoora’.

Salman Khan Hates to Miss His Workout Session

Salman Khan, one of the most fittest stars in Bollywood, is going through a hectic schedule these days. His upcoming movie BODYGUARD is ready for release and he is busy promoting the movie at various locations. At the same time he is also shooting for YRF’s EK THA TIGER being directed by Kabir Khan. This leaves him no choice to workout.

Reportedly Salman has acquired a leaner body for the climax of BODYGUARD which he is planning to follow in EK THA TIGER too. But due to lack of time, he is finding it tough to do that.

A source reveals, Salman  does not believe in missing on his workout sessions. But with his blocked schedule the only time he finds from his hectic schedule is while traveling from promotional events of BODYGUARD to the sets of EK THA TIGER. The maverick actor sweats it out cycling from one location to the other while utilizing the only time he has for the exercise in the day.

Salman worked out aggressively to acquire a comparatively leaner look for the climax in Bodyguard and he plans to maintain it. Thus, his regular workouts cannot be missed out. Cycling for a few hours in the day has become an essential part of this Bodyguard’s routine and Salman is indeed paying good attention to his body.

BODYGUARD is Salman’s and Kareena’s upcoming Eid release. It will be the third Eid release of Salman after blockbusters like WANTED (2009) and DABANGG (2010).

Sanjay Leela Bhansali Gets Two GIMA Nominations

Acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has made a distinctive name for himself in the film industry, behind path-breaking films like HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, DEVDAS and BLACK, among others. Known for his perfectionist approach and attention to detail, the director took it a step ahead by making his debut as the music composer for his last film, GUZAARISH. GUZAARISH not only received critical acclaim for its sensitive direction and great story-telling, but also for Bhansali’s music. This effort achieved him two GIMA nominations for Best Debut (Film Music) and one of the biggest honours for Best Music Director of the Year.

He has been nominated alongside Lehmber Hussainpuri (Sadi-Gali – TANU WEDS MANU), Krsna (Rangrez – TANU WEDS MANU), Bhadwai Village Mandal (Mehngayi Dayain – PEEPLI [LIVE]) and Mamta Sharma (Munni Badnaam – DABANGG) in the Best Debut (Film Music) category. In the Best Music Director category, others in contention with Bhansali are Salim Suleiman, Vishal-Shekhar, Pritam and Sajid Wajid & Lalit Pandit, among others.

The Global Indian Music Academy recently announced the nominees for the 2nd Chevrolet Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) Awards. After the phenomenal success of the Awards last year, preparations are underway to hold this year’s celebrations at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon, late September. Supported by all constituents of the Music industry, GIMA is a pioneering effort by Wizcraft International Entertainment to recognize Indian music transcending genres in the country, whilst giving the music industry a unified platform to celebrate its talent.

Shraddha Kapoor Loves Adventure!

When you think of Bollywood babes going on holiday, you imagine them sitting by the pool, sun bathing and just having a luxurious time. But our new hotty, Shraddha Kapoor, who landed on the silver screen with Luv ka the End and Teen Patti, is an adventurous type.

We recently heard that Shraddha went off to Maldives for some scuba diving, so we decided to catch up with the actress and ask her if it was true.

“Of course I swim, but scuba diving was something purely new. My 1st scuba diving experience in the Maldives was one of the best experiences of my life. When I surfaced from my first few dives, I was lost for words. It opens up a whole different world. Like learning an absolutely new language, feeling it, suddenly belonging to it & feeling excessively attached to it.”

The question is would you do it again? Does Shraddha have what it takes to take up adventure sports? “I feel like I was transported out of earth, seen crustaceans, fish, coral with colors & forms like I could never have imagined. It was an overwhelming sight, very hard to swallow & fully understand. But I was awestruck & find myself deeply in love with the ocean. I have to go back for more.”

Now our next question is will we be seeing Ms Kapoor doing an adventurous character in her upcoming films? “I am the adventurous type, I’m not prissy, I would love to do action and adventurous roles and the type of work I’m looking out for will help me showcase more varieties of myself.” Hmmm we are sure that’s true, a talented, beautiful, smart actress who likes sports… we are sure there are more good things to be seen of you Shraddha.

Vidya Showcased Her DIRTY PICTURE

After doing one of boldest ever love making scene in ISHQIYA, Vidya has gone one step further in her upcoming movie THE DIRTY PICTURE. She would be donning the cap of famous South Indian actress Silk Smitha who used to be called ‘soft porn star’ during her time.Vidya is confident of her role and said that she never enjoyed being a woman more than she did in THE DIRTY PICTURE.

First look of this movie was launched Yesterday at a single screen theatre in Bandra. Besides Vidya, director Milan Luthria, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi, Tusshar and Ekta Kapoor were present. Like they say ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’,  the trailer of this movie is a statement in itself. Director Milan Luthria said that this movie is all about firsts and he is more than happy to have made a movie like this. For him this a tribute to Silk Smitha.

Vidya had gained weight for this movie and that seems to have paid off.  She is looking very beautiful in the movie which she confesses herself. When asked about why did she have to romance 3 men, Vidya casualy says, “ek se mera kya hota.”  This statement defines the theme of the movie.

Emraan would be seen in an all new avatar in this movie but his act seems to be the same. he says, “I have made many movies dirty with my roles and kissing but the credit for making this movie dirty completely goes to Vidya.”
